What is the Board of Trustees & what are they responsible for? The CCSD Trustees are decision-makers for the school district. Seven members are elected based on district; four are appointed representatives from the four largest municipalities in Clark County (Clark County, City of Las Vegas, City of Henderson, and City of North Las Vegas). They are responsible for providing oversight to the Superintendent and establishing District-wide policy. Trustees are accountable to work with their communities to improve student achievement.

How often does the Board of Trustees meet? Trustees meet twice per month (second and fourth Thursdays) at 5 pm both virtually and at the Edward A. Greer Education Center Board Room (2832 E Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89121).

Can community members engage at Trustee meetings? Decision-making bodies benefit greatly from hearing public input and multiple perspectives. Currently, members of the public can submit comments on agenda and non-agenda items through email or voice recording. Public comment can be provided in person, via email, or via voice recording. Email comments should be submitted to Boardmtgcomments@nv.ccsd.net. To submit a voice recording on items listed on the meeting agenda, call 702-799-1166. Voice recorded public comment is limited to 1 minute 30 seconds.

Trustees Approved the Consent Agenda (7-0)

Consent Agenda Highlights:

• Agreement for a three-year (2026-29) partnership between CCSD and Special Olympics Nevada to create school sports programs for students with disabilities
• Agreement for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to develop the Autism Leadership Cohort, which will support the development of autism programs
• Addition of several dual credit courses to CCSD’s course catalog
• Approval to hire licensed personnel and unified personnel
• Purchasing awards and purchase orders totaling a combined $9,568,172.84

Trustees Approved a Report on Pre-kindergarten Expansion and Inclusive Practices (7-0)

Trustees saw and approved a presentation on the progress of CCSD’s work to expand pre-kindergarten programs and to create inclusive classrooms for students in all grade levels.

Highlights of the presentation included:

• This work is part of the “Academic Excellence” Priority of the 2026-2031 Strategic Plan.
• Work to expand pre-kindergarten programs includes stronger recruitment and retention of pre-k educators, including using the Teacher Academy College Pathway Program; advocating for increased funding; using existing space more efficiently; and strengthening partnerships among schools and the community.
• Due to Nevada Ready! Pre-K program funding, 1,700 pre-k seats were added for the 2026-27 school year.
• Next steps include continuing to grow the Teacher Academy College Pathway Program and using currently awarded grant money to develop school infrastructure.
• A goal for inclusive classrooms is to increase the rate of students with IEPs receiving instruction in a general education classroom for at least 80% of the day from 46.3% of students with IEPs to 60% of students with IEPs by 2031.
• Work to create inclusive classrooms includes creating a new literacy framework, implementing a workgroup with the task of modernizing CCSD Policy 6164 Special Services and Programs, implementing a workgroup with the task of rethinking how resources are allocated, and implementing a workgroup with the task of creating supervision tools for administrators and professional learning resources for both administrators and educators.
• Next steps include establishing secondary literacy frameworks; creating mathematics pacing guides; advocating for increased funding; and formalizing tiered, role-specific professional learning pathways.
