Trustees approved the disposition of protest by Continental Flooring Company to the recommendation of award for request for bid #26-65-B-01-BC, replacement of asbestos flooring at George L. Dilworth Middle School, to Silegacy floor finishing, INC.

Trustees received a Presentation and Approved the Washoe County School District School Property Reuse and Disposition Framework to be Utilized for all School Repurposing Decisions to be Initiated following Action by the Board of Trustees to Close a School Site, In Accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes Chapters 277 and 393 and Washoe County School District Administrative Regulation 7087

 

Trustees received a presentation and approved the Washoe County School District School Property Reuse and Disposition Framework to be utilized for all school repurposing decisions to be initiated following action by the Board of Trustees to close a school site, in accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 277 and 393 and Washoe County School District Administrative Regulation 7087.

  • Trustees reviewed the appropriate question format to submit inquiries in advance of the May 12th interview.
  • During the May 12th interview, the themes and the background of the requester (e.g., "Parent of Washoe County School District Child", "Teacher in the Washoe County School District") of who requested what item will be provided. 
  • The meeting time of the May 12, 2026 board meeting may be announced to begin earlier than usual to accommodate the length of the interview process. This update will be communicated as information is available.

  • Demonstrated students receiving an IB Diploma demonstrate high (>60%) acceptance rates at prestigious universities.
  • WCSD currently hosts two IB programs that are currently at Wooster HS and Vaughn MS.
  • Staff members from Vaughn and Wooster spoke on the innovative and research-based Tier I instruction occurring at their campuses.

Trustees approved the award of Request For Proposal (RFP) #60-P-10-26-MS, world language instructional materials adoption, to Carnegie Learning (Chinese), Lingco Language Labs Inc. (French, German and Spanish), Vista Higher Learning (Middle School Spanish), and Wayside Publishing (AP Spanish Literature) for a term of 7 years beginning July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2033 for the approximate amount of $2,925,000.

  • The committee review found the school to be "restart-ready" and demonstrates clear capacity to implement and sustain turnaround. 
  • Clear strengths that were noted were data-driven and strong academic systems, governance and financial health.

  • WCSD has been in a comprehensive audit with the Legislative Counsel Bureau for the past three years and recently went forward with the first audit recently being shared with the legislative subcommittee and passed.
