Trustees Discussed the 2025 Legislative Update
Highlights of the update include:
- 605 bills have been introduced. CCSD is tracking 128 of them. The deadline to introduce legislative bills is March 17.
- Senate Education Committee heard from County representatives on school safety.
- Committees heard a presentation on the state’s education budget.
- Some bills that were discussed include:
- AB238 regarding the Summerlin Film Studios location includes tax credits for the industry and is expected to create tens of thousands of jobs and opportunities for CCSD in regards to job training.
- SB 59 regarding educator conduct and licensing
- AB177 regarding licensing for speech language pathologists
- AB156 regarding an increase in CCSD trustees’ salary
- SB115 regarding teacher stipends
- Next week: The Department of Education will introduce a few bills. CCSD will present AB 47 to help with recruitment and retention.

Trustees Approved a Notice of Intent on Clark County School District Policy 5129 (5-0)
The new policy states, “The Clark County School District facilitates high school graduation ceremonies to provide graduates an experience to celebrate the culmination of their academic achievements.”
The Notice of Intent will be heard for approval on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Trustees Approved a Notice of Intent on Clark County School District Regulation 5129 (5-0)
The new regulation stipulates requirements, attire, speeches, school identifiers, summer graduation ceremony requirements, and certain requirements of foreign exchange students at graduation ceremonies.
The Notice of Intent will be heard for approval on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
