Bakit ka tumatakbo para sa WCSD Trustee? Ano ang iyong pananaw sa tagumpay para sa tungkuling ito? 

I have spent years representing people who needed help. I now want to use my experiences to be an advocate for our students.

Vision: To have students get an interest focused education so that they have the tools to make life and career choices in which they are successful productive citizens.

Paano mo tinukoy ang tagumpay ng mag-aaral? Anong karanasan ang mayroon ka at anong papel ang nais mong gampanan sa pagtataguyod para sa tagumpay ng mag-aaral?

To me student success is defined not only by test scores buy also by successful completion of WCSD educational programs that prepare them for a productive life.

In my personal life my wife and I have helped to raise educationally successful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. My decision as a trustee will focus on what is best for our students.

Sa 2022 National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP), ang mga mag-aaral sa ikaapat na baitang, sa Nevada, ay nakakuha ng 6 na puntos na mas mababa sa matematika at 7 puntos na mas mababa sa pagbabasa kung ihahambing sa 2019. Kung mahalal, paano mo magagamit ang iyong posisyon upang matiyak na titigil ang Nevada sumusunod sa pambansang kalakaran at nagsisimulang manguna sa mga resulta ng mag-aaral?

Of course those trends were the result of the Covid epidemic. I will ensure that all available funds ae used to provide needed remedial programs to our students.

Ano, kung mayroon man, ang mga hadlang na kasalukuyang umiiral sa kahusayan sa edukasyon at katarungan para sa bawat mag-aaral? Kung mahalal sa Lupon ng mga Tagapangasiwa, paano ka makakatulong na maalis ang mga hadlang na ito?

In my opinion the biggest barriers are the failures to retain qualified, experienced personnel. The other barrier is the inequity in facility modernization. Funding needs to be funneled not only to personnel but also to the maintenance and upgrade of aging schools.

Ano sa palagay mo ang nangungunang tatlong pinaka-paulit-ulit na hamon na kinakaharap ng WCSD Board of Trustees? Ano ang isang halimbawa ng isang matapang na diskarte na imumungkahi mong tugunan ang isa sa mga hamong iyon?

1. Response to the stakeholders.
2. The reliable measurable student education success at all schools.
3. Transparency in their dealings with personnel and with taxpayer monies.

Putting their money where their mouth is so they really care about our students and community concerns.

Iminumungkahi ng pananaliksik na higit sa 50% ng isang pulong ng lupon ay dapat nakatuon sa mga resulta ng mag-aaral. Paano mo matitiyak na ilalaan ng lupon ang ganitong dami ng oras sa mga resulta ng mag-aaral?

If 50% of the agenda is focused on student success then that could be the number one priority. That is a tough one! The Board has other priorities.

To accomplish this precise planning is necessary. Public comment could be encouraged and considered by the Board or a set agenda time before the Board meeting could be arranged.

Kung mahalal sa Lupon, paano mo haharapin ang mga mapaghamong pag-uusap at/o mga kritisismo na maaaring lumabas mula sa mga kapwa miyembro ng Lupon, stakeholder, at sa mas malawak na komunidad?

First of all I understand criticism. It often comes from people who are passionate about their concerns. I would definitely listen to those concerns.

Anong mga pangunahing tagapagpahiwatig ang iyong gagamitin upang masuri ang pagganap ng Superintendente ng WCSD? Paano mo papanagutin ang Superintendente?

The superintendent should be assessed by employee evaluations and public/parent evaluations.

The superintendent should be clearly versed in the needs and challenges of our school district. They should also understand our Nevada statutes relating to interactions with employee groups.

Sa isang kamakailang survey, 77% ng mga residente ng Nevada ay sumang-ayon na ang mga magulang ay dapat na maipadala ang kanilang mga anak sa pampublikong paaralan na sa tingin nila ay pinakamahusay para sa kanilang anak, kahit na ito ay nasa labas ng kanilang kapitbahayan. Sumasang-ayon ka ba? Pakipaliwanag ang iyong pangangatwiran.

Parents should be able to decide which schools are best for their children. This is contingent on their being room in their chosen school after all zoned children are enrolled.

Ang sumusunod na tanong ay isinumite ng kasalukuyang pampublikong mag-aaral sa mataas na paaralan: Paano mo matitiyak na ang mga mag-aaral ay mauuna sa proseso ng paggawa ng desisyon bilang miyembro ng Lupon ng mga Tagapangasiwa, at anong mga hakbang sa pananagutan ang iyong ilalagay upang matiyak na ito nangyayari? 

What we do is for you students! There needs to be input from all students into the Board process. I would like to see surveys put out to our students asking them about their concerns and their educational needs. There should be schools that non-college bound students could attend and who could learn a trade that would prepare them for their adult careers.
