Trustees Approved Changes to the Group Health Insurance for the 2024 Plan Year
Trustees approved the recommendation of the Group Insurance Committee for the following changes to the District’s self-funded group health insurance program:
- An insurance rate increase of 6%
- An increase to the Qualified High Deductible Health Plan from $3,000 to $3,200
- An addition of a $1,000 lifetime limit of a child-only orthodontics benefit
- A decrease to preventive dental cleanings and exams from three annual cleanings/exams to two annual cleanings/exams

Trustees Received an Update on Safety and Belonging
WCSD School Police provided an update on new and revised safety protocols and activities:
- Introduction of Astro, a service dog for the WCSD School Police
- Launch of Centegix Crisis Alert System, with installation now completed in more than half of the district; the implementation schedule is behind its original targets, however.
- Ongoing capital projects, including secure perimeter targets, single points of entry being enhanced, window film and coverings in open classroom areas, building emergency signage, and grant-funded visitor management systems
- Collaborative efforts with local law enforcement, including Joining Forces, the regional gang unit, and holding monthly regional law enforcement leadership meetings and quarterly law enforcement meeting with Superintendent Enfield
- Emphasizing parent and family engagement in school safety: asking questions, checking backpacks and bags, and talking to schools about any change in behavior
- Working to combat human trafficking and assist survivors of human trafficking through the HEAT (Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit) program

Trustees Received a Video Presentation on First Day of School Experiences
Trustees watched a video presentation featuring students, staff, and families from various schools throughout WCSD on their first day of the 2023-2024 school year.
