Ano ang Board of Trustees at ano ang kanilang pananagutan? Ang CCSD Trustees ay mga gumagawa ng desisyon para sa distrito ng paaralan. Trustees Approved the Consent Agenda (7-0) with the removal of agenda item 2.07 – Purchasing Awards

Mga Highlight ng Agenda ng Pahintulot:

• Student expulsions
• Licensed personnel employment
• Grant application for 2023-24 salary incentives for licensed educational personnel

Trustees Discussed and Approved Purchasing Awards (Agenda item 2.07) with the exception of the line item for textbooks and supplemental material, which shall be amended to a $10M limit (7-0)

Questions from constituents asking for clarity on a line item regarding $40M for textbooks ignited discussion. CCSD staff clarified the following:

• $40M is an authorization limit, not a planned spend.
• The cost for instructional material has varied from year to year, and has been lower in the past, but this budget item reflects an average estimate to allow for instructional materials purchasing without further board approval.
• State law mandates that instructional material purchasing begin with the Nevada Dept of Education, which vets, selects and recommends material to the Nevada State Board of Education. It is then either adopted or not. If adopted, the Department adds material to a list that districts can purchase from. Districts can not purchase materials that are not included on the adopted list.
• Regulation 6150 is about a school-based review and selection process. A team of teachers, administrators and parents can select subsequent materials to support Tier 1, 2 and 3 instruction.
• Board requested the limit be amended to $10M and re-visited once a new Superintendent was hired. A motion was created and voted on.

Trustees Accepted the Compliance Monitor Update (7-0)

The compliance monitor appointed by the Nevada Department of Education, Yolanda King of King Strategies, presented an update. Highlights of that update included:

• CCSD has submitted the corrective action plan to the State Superintendent and the plan was approved on Jan. 9.
• Problem statements, root causes, and new goals are included on the Corrective Action Plan.
• 29 Action Steps are included, including responsible party leads and stakeholders, in order to meet new goals.
• New materials in professional learning are planned and indicated in italics.
  • As an example, the new school budget development technical manual was presented.

Trustees voted to accept the update.

Trustees Terminated the Council of Great City Schools Agreement (7-0)

Trustees terminated an agreement with the Council of Great City Schools for leadership training and support, coaching, and other support mechanisms.
