Ano ang Board of Trustees at ano ang kanilang pananagutan? Ang Lupon ng mga Trustees ng Distrito ng Paaralan ng Washoe County ay inihalal ng publiko na mga gumagawa ng desisyon para sa distrito ng paaralan. Trustees Approved the Purchase of i-Ready Math and English Language Arts (ELA) Site Licenses for Elementary and Middle Schools

Trustees approved the purchase of i-Ready Math and English Language Arts (ELA) site licenses for all WCSD elementary and middle schools form Curriculum Associates, LLC. The purchase will utilize American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER III) for $6,484,688.25.

Trustees Received a Presentation on the Progress and Schedule of the District-Wide Strategic Planning Process

Trustees received an update on the strategic planning process conducted by Performance Fact, Inc., including a breakdown of student demographics and educational attainment. Highlights included:

  • For rigorous coursework, 28% of students in the district passed at least one AP or IB exam, 27% are completing at least one CTE (career and technical education) pathway, and 22% are earning dual credit.
  • The 4-year cohort graduation rate was 82% for the class of 2021. The four-year cohort graduation rate for 2022 went up to 84%.
  • According to the Kindergarten Readiness Measures for years 2021-2022, seven out of 20 students are meeting or exceeding standards.

The next board update on the process will take place May 23, with continuing engagement with stakeholder groups and community forums taking place in the interim.

Trustees Approved the Recommendations of the Zoning Advisory Committee

Trustees approved modifying the enrollment boundaries of Procter Hug High School and Robert McQueen High School, beginning for the 2023-2024 school year.

Trustees Celebrated the Success of Students at Libby Booth Elementary School

Trustees received a spotlight presentation of Booth Elementary School. Highlights included:

  • The WCSD Student Superstar Award went to fifth grader Dalilah Hartley. 
  • Libby Booth Elementary School broke all-time records for reading proficiency last year on the SBAC assessment, with 14% scoring above standards.
  • The school more than doubled its math proficiency.
  • Ten percent of students with an IEP scored above standards in reading.
  • The school grew from the lowest-performing elementary school in WCSD in 2019 to the third highest performing in reading among Title I schools.
  • The computer lab has been turned into Makerspace, an engineering lab for students.

Trustees approved the donation of property located at 200 School St. in Wadsworth, Nevada, to the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe.

  • No tolerance policy for racism, antisemitism, and homophobia in WCSD schools, and ensuring all students and staff members feel safe and welcome
